Since I was 19 years old I wanted to make a difference in people’s lives, though I had no idea how to organize that desire into a business.

I graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 1995 and had six jobs during my first six years out of college.

To say I was going nowhere was an understatement.

Many times I thought about quitting, but I just couldn’t, and then I came across an opportunity that changed my life for the better.

My First Business “Failure”

When I was 24 years old, I interviewed millionaires and successful people on my tiny radio show in Long Island, New York.

I never had more then three listeners for any show and two of them were my parents.

I did this for nine months and then stopped, because I had to pay for the air time and I was bringing in no income.

Three years later everything changed.

From Failure to Hope

My friend Jason Oman called me up and said “Mike, you know the radio show tapes you have from when you did your radio show?”

How could I forget?

He said, “Let’s get them transcribed and turn them into a book called ‘Conversations with Millionaires’.”

I thought it was the best idea since The Clapper, though all the publishers disagreed.

We had a choice. Quit or self publish.

We self published and the book became a #1 best-seller in its first 90 days.

The book has now been translated in 3 languages as well.

1. Credibility

You want an amazing way to get people’s attention and be thought of as a ‘trusted advisor”? Become an author.

The credibility you receive as an author is incredible. Some people will even perceive you as a celebrity.

You might have TV shows, radio show, or blogs online chasing you down looking to talk with you and share your book with their audience.We know how important being unique in today’s marketplace is and being an author gets you there quickly. Very quickly.

Here’s a specific action you can take immediately to start building your credibility.

Think about this. Muhammed Ali said “I am the greatest” way before he was the greatest.

When I had a tiny radio show in Long Island, NY, I marketed myself as The World’s #1 Personal Development Radio Show. I believed it and people starting repeating it.

Today’s real currency is relationships. There’s no doubt about that.

The key to developing more relationships is access. Being an author is an incredible way to build new relationships and create new access for yourself. You can receive access to people’s email lists, links on their website, joint ventures and more.

Here’s a specific action to help you build relationships faster. I call it having a Asset of Value.

To get people’s attention to start a relationship with you many times that have to see what’s in it for them. How can you help them?

An Asset of Value is anything you possess that someone else can benefit from because they can leverage it to their own advantage.

Here’s an example:

You run a business group in your town. Now you have an Asset of Value because you can say to someone you’re aiming to build a relationship this: “Joe, how about you speak to my business group. They’re 100 people there who are great prospects for your business.”

Other examples of Assets of Value are an email list, a radio or TV show, a network of friends and more.

3. Income

As an author, you now have a book to now sell, though here’s what’s really exciting.

Your book can lead to multiple streams of income for yourself. I’ve used my book to create over 8 streams of income. You can do the same.

You can offer a coaching program based on the book, an audio product from the book and many others. It’s incredible what being an author can unleash in your business.

I know we’re talking about being an author, but let me show you how to take that knowledge and create an audio product.

Here’s a specific plan for creating your first 60 minute audio product.

• Take out a piece of paper and write the numbers 1-10.
• For 1., write Introduction and #10 write ‘Close’.

Now all you have to do it think about 8 points for 6 minutes each and your very first product is done. That simple.

Get It Going!
