Everybody knows they should eat a variety of fruits and vegetables, every day.

Have you ever wondered why the daily recommendations for eating vegetables are so high?

Well, it’s because each serving has a very small amount of the nutrients your body needs.

To receive the nutritional benefits, you have to consume enormous quantities all the time!

Let me give you an example…

Why Vegetables Just Don’t Cut It

You’ve probably heard the buzz by now – antioxidants are being hailed as “heroes” when it comes to treating age-related diseases, including cardiovascular disease.

Keep in mind that when I talk about cardiovascular disease…

I’m also including heart disease, hypertension (high blood pressure), and stroke – essentially the big three life-shortening illnesses.

The point is, there just aren’t enough antioxidants in vegetables to fight the toxins and free radicals that attack healthy cells and open the door for cardiovascular disease.

Unfortunately, that’s not the only piece of bad news…

Limited Window

These antioxidants have a limited window to nourish your body. Many have just 30 minutes to combat free radical damage before they pass out of your system as waste.

Another problem has to do with cholesterol…

You might be like many others and under the impression that LDL is your biggest enemy when it comes to cholesterol.

In fact, it’s not LDL on its own that’s harmful, but LDL that is oxidized by free radicals which harms the heart.

Oxidized LDL is sticky and gummy. It collects together in clumps, and it sticks to the walls of our arteries so the opening inside gets narrower and narrower.

Your heart has to work harder to pump the blood around, and you notice the effects of poor circulation.

A high level of quality antioxidants can cut down on your risk of heart disease even if you do have high levels of LDL.

Super Powerful Antioxidant

Now you know why your doctor tells you to eat a lot of vegetables and other plant-based foods throughout the day.

What he doesn’t tell you is that even with the perfect diet, you can never get enough antioxidants from foods. You really would have to eat a ridiculously large amount of food all day to do that!

You would basically have to consume “mountains” of olive oil, nuts, and sprouted grains each day.

That’s why it just makes sense to take a supplement with antioxidants in it or significantly increase your consumption of blueberries, green tea and broccoli.
